Positive Thinking

One of my friends sent me an email. I find it meaningful and interesting.

Once there was a loving couple travelling in a bus in a mountainous area. They decided to get down at some place. After the couple got down, the bus moved on. As the bus moved on, a huge rock fell on the bus from the mountain and crushed the bus to crumbs. Everybody on board was killed. The couple upon seeing that, said, "We wish we were on that bus". Why do you think they said that?

I spent a couple of minutes trying to visualize the whole situation. I've been thinking what could be the things which the couple can benefit from the tradegy. Was the big rock a big diamond? Probably they owe loanshark money and their family can benefit from the generous insurance? I was wrong.. the answer goes this way...

Think...

If they had remained on the bus instead of stopping to get down, the resulting time delay could have been avoided, and the rock would have fallen after the bus had passed...

Always think positive in life and look for opportunities where you can help others. Many times in life, the oppositive of Success is not Failure, it's Quitting. Never expect things to happen. Work hard and make them happen!

Team Singapore

Team Singapore returned back to the Red Dot gracefully yesterday. For the past two weeks, the nation has been cheering for the team fighting for glory in Beijing. And to answer the call of the whole nation, our paddlers won a long overdue silver medal.

The nation is overjoyed.

The paddlers have immediately become instant icons. Hopefully their success will be able to spur more others who have the same dream to achieve more at the highest level.

I've always admired sportsmen who do their country proud. Other than the current famous three paddlers, Jiawei~Tianwei~Yuegu.. I, myself, is a great fan of Jocelyn Yeo! I ain't got any idea why I was attracted to this swimmer but the only reason might be her achievement in the sporting world. She has not just overcame obstacles to achieve the greatest but she convinced my admiration for her with a simple task in mind; outdo herself.

I used to say that during my futbol playing dayz; I do my best, I answer to my own performance... I don't believe people saying he would gladly give up his individual medal/honour in exchange for the team glory. To me, that sounds more like bullshit..

Nonetheless, do not write out of the context.. main topic should focus on the triumph of Team Singapore. Kudoz to the team!

A pair of fearsome eyes welcomed me upon my arrival at the lobby. Deep inside, I was thinking, comon.. merely just a short filming why gave me such a serious stare from far! I was kinna nervous at my first involvement in filming and I'd say that pair of eyes from the host, Dasmond Koh, was not helping me lor.. Made people more kanjiong!

I was invited to be one of the profiles to be featured in a Channel 8 documentary show this coming September. This is my first ever attempt and I thought I've gained some once-in-a-blue-moon valuable experience. Of course the director and the host did guide me along the way too. In fact, once the ice was broken, I realised that Dasmond is a joker after all! His super cold jokes, addressing all aunties as "jie-jie" and etc.. I will always remember how he made fun of me and Dorcas in the hall! Right, Dorcas??

Throughout the shooting, I was kind of unnatural I supposed. Gonna wayang as if I'm interested in this and that.. but of course I'm not. After the entire shooting, at least I know how a filming process is like.. Gosh, it's tiring for sure! Overall it's fun.. So right now, let's wait for the show to be aired ya.. Ladies and Gentlemen, please mark this date on your calendar, 20 Sept, Channel 8! Timing to be advised!

Dinner in the Sunset with my cousin after watching that mummy movie. Movie was so so.. find it a bit draggy but overall thumbs up to certain extend.

These days, everybody has been busy with their work and study. Glad that both Hao & Hui are graduating soon. Time to step into the working society ya!

Action (Photo) Speaks Louder Than Words...

Yellow 3 Reds 0

Weather was almost perfect to welcome the game at the Grand Old Lady for one last time last evening. Nevermind did I bring along two sets of Windbreaker to stand-by, the weather will be totally perfect if the wind could blow a little more stronger!


To stay neutral in this exhibition game, both Joanne and me stayed out of the Red and Yellow. We donned Blue under the pinkish-orangish skies! Once again, we're there for another highly anticipated once-in-a-lifetime game!


Together with the rest of the 33,650 crowd, Dennis was there with us. I did manage to catch up with this former Singapore Olympic player who has already hung up his boots since the unfortunate motorbike incident early last year. He was on crutches on my wedding ya! He's the sort of serious lad who watched the game with a serious mind.. He didn't talk much throughout the entire game except some minor typical professional footballer's view on some of the play (if you know what I meant).


Everyone bought the (expensive) ticket to watch the brazilian samba but nobody out there would disagree with me that we all want the underdog, Singapore, to create an upset! To create an upset may seems too much but to let the famous yellow sweat for every ball will be a reasonable and realistic target.


Sitting in the crowd, I have chosen this position to have a better view of the entire play. Below, nearer to the stand, are for those who were looking at the players, not the play.


Tonnes of brazilian expats were there at the Grand Old Lady in full force!


Check out the latin drum beats with the curvy body dancing in the Brazil flaggy area! They are so musically inclined!


Game started. Ronaldinho leading the attack right from the start (forward) while Singapore, in red, DEFENDED from right to right to left to left to right again, to left.........


You will be surprise to hear me saying, the game was boring. Brazilian's passes were flawless. They would string 20passes round the entire Singapore's half effortlessly. Singapore team, on the other hand, could only chase the shadows. It was kind of one-sided game but this game allowed me to wittness the difference between a world current number 4 and world current number 127. Ronaldinho was not very impressive but his touches were still regards as Magic! At least, when I get old, I can tell my grand children that grandpa has watched Ronaldinho and the brazilian team played before!


End of the game, the yellows beat the reds three to nothing. Atmosphere was fantastic! Nothing I could complain about. The match was realistic and virtually happening. So much so to the overwhelming fanfare since the brazilian arrived last week, the game was considered good. 63bucks per person for the rare game was worth the money.
