army - my thoughts

(photo: source unknown)

a sense of loneliness hits me immediately after the out-processing. i am not particularly surprised by e mixed feeling attack but rather amazed by how fast this in-camp training has ended. shall use my very own way to sum it up below!

BUNK:
we hav been staying at e same level, same venue and same bed yearly but i just can't help but to comment that to climb all e way up to LEVEL-6 after an exercise is damn tiring lor! can't we change it to level-4 from next year onwards??? for this in-camp, i've also brought in a 4-way extension cable to link up e wall plug to my bed! all my camp mates were impressed! * exclusive usage*

CANTEEN:
e only place for us, e uncles, to la-kopi.. tua bao, siew mai, fan chio and relax. you will never be able to imagine how much we can chat about there! amazing!

E-MART:
for those, especially ladies, who dunno, e-mart is our one and only SHOPPING mart which we can buy things. be it army gears, toiletries or tibits, u will get almost everything! well, this in-camp i am kind of disappointed with e variety which was available for our favourite past-time; shopping! basically other than running shoes and army t-shirts, e rest of e shelves were all empty! nothing to buy leh.. si bei sianz

OUTFIELDS EXERCISES:
first week, we've got a 2D1N ops training then followed by another 3D2N battalion exercise on e second (final) week. not too sure if we're better-trained now, e action-fronts were not as tedious as before but e forever-sunny weather almost killed us! very hot lor! e outfield ration, erm.. seems like has already improved. we've got nasi lemak, nasi bryani and etc. kinna apertizing! journey in e 7-tonne was another memory as well. all of us will squeezed into e truck, located a good location and slept throughout e entire convoy movement! being e "smartest", i've prepared a hammock for my nights in e nobody land during outfield!! training has never been easy as we're preparing for our oversea fatek in thailand in year 2010. gonna speak thai again ya!

PEERS:
singapore is not a big country. everyone knows e fact. but i'll never get to meet any of my campmate outside e camp. it has to be in e camp where we will eventually be able to meet up with each others and there comes e usual cliche like, how's life? how's work? when u're getting married and bla bla bla..

one of e hot topics is of cos e rising popularity of Da-Fung-Chui of Superband! everybody is talking about e band's bassist who happens to be one of our campmates, (hide)yaki! whenever yaki behaved funny, e others will threaten to report to e press! haha.. i'm gonna blog about e moment when we won e waterpolo competition, yaki bared his entire BUTT to e whole camp!! haha..

other than e yaki, shorty (steven lee) has got his own fair share of glory! shorty is a jockey and do not be fooled by his small build, he's not one to mess around with! albert has been transferred to our detachment and ever since shorty has been commanding him to do lots of things like collecting rations, massaging his tired legs and etc! e entire commanding and instructing was known to be a joke but occassionally i found it to be slightly over but I do admit that i did benefit from shorty's BSM-like task allocation at times, haha!!

EARN A LIVING:
quite a couple of our peers are holding interesting job. we will then sit around and talk about his job! below is e interestng jobs breakdown...

1) Jockey (Steven Lee aka Shorty)
2) Air Steward (Darren Deng aka Dalian)
3) Musician/Celebrity (Hideaki aka Superband DFC bassist)
4) Air Traffic Controller (BC Speng aka Chen Zhicai look-alike)
5) Dentist (BSM Tiong aka)
6) Event Coordinator (JUN)!!

SUMMARY:
i cursed and sweared during outfield but when finally everything comes to an end, i feel emotionally empty. i'm gonna miss e army dayz where we do not have to think about what happen outside e camp. all we need to do is to think of when can we have our nights-off, go canteen talk cock, play futbol or lay on e bed playing mobile phones. it's ultimately everyone's dream to be paid salary but do crap! anyway i am always looking forward to e next in-camp which most probably gonna be in aug 2009. i might be writing more next year!

Futbol Gathering

has been years since i last organized a "big scale" futbol session. last evening, i gathered feca, albirex, lawrence's neighbourhood team & suntec team, all in all, 25 players sweating out at east coast! hell of a great time! even steve, who has recently just recovered from a ACL, was there to watch us played! up on pic here, you can see him driving me to e game!

one of my favourite futbol khaki of all time, fei, was presented last evening as well. the night was truely enjoyable as we really kicked ass throughout the entire evening! i seldom get to meet up with this group of friends. the only time we all gathered out is none other than futbol. like what many said, futbol is an universal language.

this is my suntec team. make up of banquet, engineering and of course client services! futbol session was supposed to be arranged for all of them but eventually last evening became a jun's wedding-like gathering. i'll have to mingle around with a ball and pass comment like, " hey, how's ur leg, you're ok? how's the game? thanks for coming down today..." bla.. bla.. bla..

this is my albirex team! do not be fooled by the lady here, atsuko has got a great game with the guys too! although we're having a great time socalising on and off the pitch, i admitted that i was kind of sad when kura and atsuko told me that they're leaving albirex at the end of this season.. bad for us but good for them individually ya. kura will be leaving for mexico to improve his coaching and spanish language while atsuko might be switching line. having described such a mixed feeling moment, four of us, including fei, were enjoying every moment last evening! check out our posture while posing for atsuko's toy camera! haha~
next session on 28 november will be an even better one, i promised!

loud pink day

the dayz of sleeping over in e freezing office was finally over. in short, nothing in this world is free. if you want e brand, you pay for e brand. if you want e exposure and experience, you pay it with your sleeping time and energy. got hit and thrown around, you will learn.

yesterday, a farewell dinner party was organized by potential cs-in-e-making, cabell. e session was supposed to be a farewell sort of party but due to e unfortunate fact that both of our lead personnel were absent from e dinner, eventually e dinner turned out to be a welcome-back party for claudia!

it's always heart-warming to see so many former colleagues gathered back. joel keeps long hair now, lena more muscular now, joey more cuter now and lastly dorcas more bitchy now! * i hate that bitch!* she's always going against me!

to grace e event last evening, i wore a new shirt which I've brought from Heeren earlier this month. instead of getting some compliment, feedbacks flooded my ears saying i look more gayish in that wear! gosh! i thought i look ok, haha! hows my loud pink design across my chest?

Tough Dayz

tonight will be the 3rd night staying in suntec. i've been so looking-forward to go home and trust me this feeling has never been so strong before. ok lah, i felt e same way when i was in e army too! people work, i also work, but why can't i be like e majority, going work at 8, closing pc at 6, haiz.. maybe i should really sit down and consider my next job option! rest assured that i will not be in e same line! *you hear me, boss!*

well, have been thinking hard on where is my next destination. other than F&B and event, i really don't know what to do. did i miss out saying i play ball? nah, play-ball time is over!! maybe i should opt for something which i can be more human! off e record, my current job is not so healthy for a family man! unlike joanne, she's been offing e pc on e dot most of e time! ask her!

whenever i have e opportunity to chat with some contractors, organizers or even fellow colleagues, i always ask e same question, what makes them stay in this industry for so long? e replies are always e same answer, self satisfaction. sometimes i am wondering if they've damage their brains! haha.. cos i thought most of the time what I've got is actually Relieved! *shallow*

however when time comes, it comes. ain't matter how hard or complex an event is, eventually it will end. at times, it ends without you knowing. so.. just count down!

Stretched

For the past few days, I have not been able to enjoy my time with my wife and coffee.. have been really tied up with events in the centre.. not too sure if I'm away for too long which makes me feel this way; stretched..

My brain does not clocked more than 4hrs of sleep daily for the past few days, and with the challenging event which is starting in a few hours' time, i've been walking around with a heavy head. Many have been robbed in to assist me but instead of happy, I feel so sorry for myself. I felt useless..

Tried reading people's blog, find some of them interesting. At least those few minutes of reading eased my self-disappointment's low morale. I love to read. Afterall, I'm a human who has not been tested. Now I know where I stand. Sad to say, one discovered my shallow. However, low tide comes with surprises. I wish those surprises are beautiful shells and not torn plastic bags..
