Yellow 3 Reds 0

Weather was almost perfect to welcome the game at the Grand Old Lady for one last time last evening. Nevermind did I bring along two sets of Windbreaker to stand-by, the weather will be totally perfect if the wind could blow a little more stronger!

To stay neutral in this exhibition game, both Joanne and me stayed out of the Red and Yellow. We donned Blue under the pinkish-orangish skies! Once again, we're there for another highly anticipated once-in-a-lifetime game!

Together with the rest of the 33,650 crowd, Dennis was there with us. I did manage to catch up with this former Singapore Olympic player who has already hung up his boots since the unfortunate motorbike incident early last year. He was on crutches on my wedding ya! He's the sort of serious lad who watched the game with a serious mind.. He didn't talk much throughout the entire game except some minor typical professional footballer's view on some of the play (if you know what I meant).

Everyone bought the (expensive) ticket to watch the brazilian samba but nobody out there would disagree with me that we all want the underdog, Singapore, to create an upset! To create an upset may seems too much but to let the famous yellow sweat for every ball will be a reasonable and realistic target.

Sitting in the crowd, I have chosen this position to have a better view of the entire play. Below, nearer to the stand, are for those who were looking at the players, not the play.

Tonnes of brazilian expats were there at the Grand Old Lady in full force!

Check out the latin drum beats with the curvy body dancing in the Brazil flaggy area! They are so musically inclined!

Game started. Ronaldinho leading the attack right from the start (forward) while Singapore, in red, DEFENDED from right to right to left to left to right again, to left.........

You will be surprise to hear me saying, the game was boring. Brazilian's passes were flawless. They would string 20passes round the entire Singapore's half effortlessly. Singapore team, on the other hand, could only chase the shadows. It was kind of one-sided game but this game allowed me to wittness the difference between a world current number 4 and world current number 127. Ronaldinho was not very impressive but his touches were still regards as Magic! At least, when I get old, I can tell my grand children that grandpa has watched Ronaldinho and the brazilian team played before!

End of the game, the yellows beat the reds three to nothing. Atmosphere was fantastic! Nothing I could complain about. The match was realistic and virtually happening. So much so to the overwhelming fanfare since the brazilian arrived last week, the game was considered good. 63bucks per person for the rare game was worth the money.

Buy of the Month

Joanne and me gonna samba our way to the Grand Old Lady again next week. We might be watching a so-called "Once in a Life Time" kind of game; Singapore Selection taking on Brazil Olympic Team!
The brazilian team is not treating this game lightly. By just judging the name of the players travelling with the team, the underdog Asian are sparring against the mighty Ronaldinho, Robinho and gang! Good fight though!
Too bad not much friends are willing to join me and Joanne. Nonetheless, I believe Joanne and me will be enjoying ourselves in the "I Reckon" sell-out crowd at the Grand Old Lady once again!

Futbol Recreation Club

Management approached me, they are planning to set up a perm football recreation club. I have been specially choosen to lead the set up.

To run a club is always one of my many dreams. Some months back, I wrote (here) about how I'd wish to have a club which I can call my own. The only difference is I can't buy any players which I ain't got any issue at this point of time. I welcome players from all departments to join the club!

With all reasonable funding and unfailing trust from the management, I do wish to do whatever I can to launch the football club successfully. Personally, I do not have the ability to nurture the present generation to be a warrior team, but I can contribute by raising the awareness in our current working environment, gather more players to the team, and set our sight at the next CCG competition next year. This new task has since given me another reason to convince myself why I am still extending my service in this first job of mine.

Anyone with me?

Studio 1994

I was chatting with two of my colleagues this morning. We talked about jamming. They know that I jamm and they were asking if they can join me at my band's next jamming session. Without knowing when is my next session, I agreed.

While watching the Superband on TV this evening, the jamming sensation really brought me back 14years ago. My classmate, Jeremy, took me to a studio along Upper Serangoon Road after school. Never in my life had I been to a music studio. With only a rough idea from the TV, studio should be a nicely parqueted, branded music instruments-filled, a big glass window separating the recording studio with a giant mixer being placed right in front of Music Arranger.

When I reached the studio for the first time, my anticipating mood was devasted. Welcoming me, were torn mattress stuffed in the bass drum, dusty cables running all over the ceiling and dirty greyish carpet and lastly wall paper probably was peeled off by previous "musicians"!

It was totally off. Never did I expect such a big difference. Well, nevermind the difference, I have been patronizing jamming studio for the past 14years.

I can still recall how it felt at my first jamming session. I was amazed by how a normal 4-piece band can actually played a song similar to the one which I've always hear from the discman! I am impressed with Jeremy and his band.

Ever since, music has been playing an important part in my life. Till now, I am still in love with it. Because of my current job, I might not be able to jamm as much as I wanted to, but the passion for jamming and music has never decreased. Kind of looking forward to the next jamming session.

Appreciation

This is my second year leading the team in the CCG competition. Compared to last outing, this year we were slightly ill-prepared. Obstacles have been hitting the team, or rather me I should say. But yet we came out strong, brushed aside all challenges and we completed the competition. I told everyone that our team got the third-placing in the group. But I'd add, there're only 3 teams in our group!

To lead this team is never an easy task, considered we've only got a month to prepare and most of the time, we did not have sufficient players to form a team. I was indeed pissed off with a couple of irresponsible matured adults whom I thought I would never miss-judged weeks ago. The fact is I totally screwed. It's ok. Never really wasted much time on those people but just hope that they can realise how much they have missed in life, how much they had let those who pinned the minimum hope on them to deliver, down.

Workload's average. Balancing my life well at the moment. So much time have been spent in office although that has been made-known to myself right from the start. I still feel rather uneasy. Uneasy as in the searching for myself in a glass of beer; before I can kick myself out of the beer, I'm already drunk. I am.. I am still..

Conversation With Coach

I was chatting with Balestier Khalsa FC head coach, Nasaruddin Jalil, 2days ago. Suprising, both of us were at the St. John first-aid refresher course, busy with tonnes of "kissing" and "hugging"!

In fact, I knew Coach Nasa since year 2001. That year I was playing for the formerly-known Balestier Central Utd FC in the Prime/S-League while Coach himself was coaching the COE U-16. I never train under Coach Nasa before but I know that he's definitely one of those nice coaches, modest and calm in all situation, out there in the local football scene.

Coach Nasa even joked, saying all the other S-League clubs should be careful. Do let his team beat theirs! Haha.. With the current squad, Coach knows that he has got nothing to lose. With the team currently 3rd from the bottom of the League table, Coach knows that the team just has to focus and play it's own game. Not for the top glory but at least for the fans who's there all these years I supposed.

Charlie Gathering

One by one, got settled down, finally. One of my best Army buddies, Xaevier, ended his bachelorhood last evening in a simple but yet beautiful wedding dinner. And a gathering for Charlie will only take place on this kind of occasion. The dinner table is always filled with laughter.

7years of friendships since Army bloody days, Xaevier has never got a very smooth love relationship. Just so glad that he's happily attached now.

Met up with Zhengrong and Hideaki too. Nowadays, Hideaki is the most busiest I supposed. With my current married status, I actually shared a piece of advice with "Yaki". If you really wanna have a career in the entertainment industry, be prepared to put your marriage on hold for the time being. Although I do not have a similar past experience, he agreed with me.

Jokes and Laughters really filled our table-14. I've listed out the jokes of the night..

1) While we're blue-toothing pics around via our mobiles, we came across a Blue-tooth's name, "My GF Shi Mei Nv"!! - Francis's Mobile (His gf forced her to put that). Hideaki's name is "Teriyaki Hideaki"!

2) Francis was trying to tell everyone that he's getting fatter. He proved himself right by forcing his head downwards to force his double chins!

3) Our table invited the groom over to take a photo. Actually we wanted him to take the photo for us instead! Haha!
