I skipped my First-Aid course to answer the calling of the nation. I was at the Grand Old Lady, praying for a history. I couldn't hide my disappointment as Singapore was slaughtered mercilessly.
TienSin managed to convince me that I should be part of the history last evening but never did I expect myself to witness a massacre; something which I wish we're the one doing the destroy instead.
The turn-out at the Grand Old Lady was not impressive. Only after reading the newspaper this morning then I realised that there're approximately 29,000 pax being part of the disappointment. The dream is dashed.
Standing on the battlefield were the best Singapore has got but borrowed a phrase from Coach Raddy, Singapore just couldn't cope with the Uzbeks. It's scary to see how the way the whites passed the ball. Simply awesome! Those were the kind of passes which we can't do at our level but the whites did it so swiftly with precision!
We lost the battle but ain't graceful enough. We should have done better than that. Anyway the result shows all...

Have faith in our Lions! We might have lost the match, but we haven't lost the battle yet. We might have conceded 7 goals, out of which 6 might have been due to silly mistakes...but we also managed to put 3 goals past the Uzbek team who had a clean sheet in their WCQ journey prior to this game. Our boys might have been overwhelmed by the wily Uzbekistan midfield...but they showed courage, never gave up and fought for possession and goals at every opportunity.
For as long as there is a chance, and our boys keep on fighting, we should keep faith and stand by them. Sometimes in life, all that matters is knowing that we have fought a good fight...to know in your heart that you were there with them at the most crucial match of their lives.
You may be disappointed, but I'm sure the players felt a thousand times worse. You may have skipped a course to turn up for the match...but do know that the boys trained tirelessly for the past years just for a shot in this tournament.
Just as you would not abandon your family in their times of need...the Lions need their fellow Singaporeans behind them. Stand with our Lions...for as long as they fight, we will fight with them.
EVeryone loves a winner (just look at the people who jumped on the football bandwagon when the Lions made it into the finals of the Tiger Cup 2004 and AFF Championship 2006), but it is the rare few who stand beside the team when they're down that pushes work hard for success. Search within your heart, my friend, and decide which you want to be.
